EplerWood International Fundraises for Sri Lanka Relief
January 3, 2005 · Burlington, VT

Sri Lanka is the second worst affected country in the horrific tsunami disaster. With over 70% of the coastline devastated and a staggering death toll now reaching 41,000. Over a million have been left homeless and have lost everything including their belongings, livelihood and loved ones and many are grieving for children, immediate family and friends.

The needs are now vast and extend from food, clothing, medical assistance and shelter, preventing diseases like dysentery, cholera and malaria, to the rebuilding of homes and livelihoods to enable people to support themselves and regain their dignity.

Rebuild Sri Lanka was formed in order to answer both the immediate and long-term needs of these affected people. This committed group of professionals (Tamil and Sinhalese) is striving to provide displaced communities with basic requirements while laying the foundation for the next stage of relief – building homes and enabling employment. The group has already undertaken a number of relief operations to – Arugam Bay, Hambantota, Kirinde, Galle and Trincomalee. This work has mainly been supported through combined personal funds, contributions and time. Rebuild Sri Lanka will ensure that all donations made will directly reach those most in need.

EplerWood International has established a direct link with Rebuild Sri Lanka. Contributions made in U.S. or European currencies sent by wire directly to Sri Lanka will go a very long way. For more information read www.rebuildsrilanka.org which provides information on how to donate.
